Service of Ordinationto the diaconate Maryann Amor and Shelly King were ordained to the diaconate by the Rt. Rev. Jane Alexander on November 4, 2019, Feast day of the Old Testament Saints, at All Saints' Anglican Cathedral, Edmonton. In the Gospel of John (13: 1-17), read by the Rev. Dr. Joanne Neal, Jesus washes the disciples’ feet (the symbolic act of a deacon and the calling of every Christian). The Rt. Rev. Victoria Matthews, Episcopal Commissary, gave the Homily address and asked members of the congregation to recall a time they have been presented with the opportunity to wash Jesus’ feet. She compared the role of the deacon in the church and the world to “scratchy underwear”– that won’t allow the wearer to get comfortable because it causes nagging discomfort. Service of Inductionfor the Rev. Lorne Manweiler at St. Timothy's Edmonton St. Timothy’s Anglican Church in Edmonton celebrated a new season of ministry and its warm connections with the surrounding community at the induction service of the Rev. Lorne Manweiler on November 6, 2019. Throughout the service, all those in attendance had some part to play. St. Timothy’s choir, directed by Pamela Graham, called the community to worship with an anthem titled “For Such a Time as This” and shared two other anthems through the course of the evening. People’s Warden, Diann Bowes brought the Old Testament reading from the book of Joel. Then Rev. Lorne called on the children to lead the responsive reading of Psalm 112. Their part was to shout “Praise the Lord!” at the start and end, which they did with gusto. For more infomation visit:

Holy Trinity PresentsThree Showings, Remembrance Day Weekend Holy Trinity Anglican Church will present Who Goes There?, a fascinating drama that weaves a soulful plot from real life experiences of life, birth and death. Inspired by an invitation from the Yale Institute of Sacred Music, Holy Trinity Anglican Church embarked on creating an artistic project like none created before. Volunteers were sent out into the city to gather people’s actual encounters with birth, their thoughts on love and their experiences with death. From these honest and surprising stories, a spiritually uplifting play has been created that illuminates fiction with real life and allows the audience to experience lived lives through theatre. Performances at Sanctuary Stage (10037 84 Avenue); 7:30 pm Friday and Saturday, November 8 & 9, and 2:00 pm Monday, November 11. Tickets are $15, plus applicable fees. They are available to purchase online from TIX on the Square, at the door, or in advance from the Holy Trinity church office. Contact us at church.office@holytrinity.ab.ca or 780-433-5530 ext. 104.
