The Bishop of Edmonton invites applications for the position of Incumbent of Dayspring Ministries – this is a full-time position that supports the ministry of three rural parishes in the Diocese of Edmonton.

Dayspring Ministries is a shared ministry of St. Saviour’s, Vermilion, St. Thomas’, Wainwright and St. Mary’s, Edgerton led by one full-time priest and several lay leaders from the three parishes. The origin of Dayspring is rooted in the need to ensure the continuation of ministry in rural areas.

The qualities of the Rector we seek include:

  • A priest who specifically has passions in the areas of preaching and pastoral care; someone capable of using both their words and actions to faithfully build up the body of Christ.
  • A priest with a vision that is flexible, adaptable and open-minded.
  • A priest with leadership and administrative skills; a team leader and team builder, strong in technological skills and multitasking.
  • A priest who is comfortable working with seniors; both working alongside seniors who play active roles in the ministries of our congregations and in providing pastoral care to those who are homebound or in retirement and long-term care residences.
  • A priest who is prepared to regularly travel and worship in multiple locations on a Sunday. Travel during the work week will also be frequent. A reliable vehicle and a valid Alberta driver’s licence are requirements for this ministry.
  • A priest with a passion, energy and love for rural ministry who seeks a rural lifestyle. Prior experience working in a rural ministry setting would be an asset.
  • A priest who is willing to work with a variety of individuals and circumstances (from a coffee shop to a barnyard). As a very diverse and geographically large parish, we recognize and encourage a strong sense of self-awareness and maintenance of a healthy work/life balance.
  • A priest who is a faithful disciple prepared to make our parish their home.
