EndPovertyEdmonton (EPE) has announced that Cheryl Whiskeyjack and Michael Phair will take on the roles of co-chairs for the Stewardship Round Table, EPE’s leadership group. Cheryl Whiskeyjack is Executive Director of the Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society. Michael Phair is Chair of the University of Alberta Board of Governors and a former Edmonton City Councillor. They will take over from outgoing co-chairs Dr. Jeff Bisanz and Bishop Jane Alexander.

“There are no words to express our collective thanks and gratitude to outgoing co-chairs Bishop Jane Alexander and Dr. Jeff Bisanz - both of whom have been there from the very beginning of the EndPovertyEdmonton journey,” said Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson.

EPE has also released its inaugural Progress Report. The report “shares highlights from an incredible year of work across the entire EPE movement and includes information about the creation of the EndPovertyEdmonton Secretariat.” EPE’s goal is to eliminate poverty in Edmonton within a generation (30 years) by enabling citizens to participate fully (economically, socially and culturally) in their community.
