Another liturgical year is coming to an end. For those using the Book of Alternative Services, this means changing to a new set of lectionary readings for the new year!!
Across parishes in the Diocese, most are using the Revised Common Lectionary. It can be accessed by visiting https://lectionary.library.vanderbilt.edu/ and includes the full text of the readings and alternate readings for each day.
There is also an Anglican-specific lectionary resource created by the Anglican Church of Canada that you can access here: https://lectionary.anglican.ca/. This resource lists the readings for Morning Prayer, Holy Eucharist, and Evening Prayer. For Sundays and Feast Days, you can click on the “Link to full text for this day” (once the date is selected) and it will provide the full reading texts for Holy Eucharist as well as the Collect and Prayers for before and after Communion.
Editor's note: Each liturgical year, we read through one of the Gospels. Look for an introduction to the Gospel of Matthew by the Ven. Jordan Haynie Ware in the December issue of The Messenger.
