Led by Gloria Rogers, a member of the Immanuel, Wetaskiwin Reconciliation Team, a group of parishioners gathered in Jubilee Park to hang red dresses to remember the Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit folk who are missing or who have been murdered. The red dresses draw awareness to and break the silence about this important issue in both the city of Wetaskiwin and the four First Nations of Maskwacis. On May 5, the National Day for Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous People, the reconciliation team held a memorial at the Wetaskiwin Peace Cairn. Together we will not forget, nor will we be silent. Submitted by Fiona Brownlee, Diocese of Edmonton Aboriginal and Rural Churches Liaison
