In the town of Devon, 40 kms southwest of Edmonton, you will come upon St. George’s Anglican Parish, a community that believes our life with Jesus is the best thing ever to happen to us and it’s meant to be shared.

You’ll find St. George’s at 1 St. Clair Street in an area near the town’s center designated for churches. Within a one-block radius are Anglican, Lutheran, United and Roman Catholic Churches. Stop by St. George’s when you arrive in town and take a selfie out front before checking out some favourite attractions recommended by local community members:

  • You can spend time alongside the river playing in the park or panning for gold at Prospector’s Point. There are well-developed walking and cycling trails that wind through the town and river valley. Devon is considered an epicenter for cycling culture;
  • The town’s pubs and restaurants in town are worth visiting. Everything from Thai to English Fish and Chips is available. If you’re yearning for old-fashioned, prairie restaurant fare, try Norma Dee’s. The Homeroom Diner has the best sour cherry/chocolate dessert you will ever devour;
  • Thinking of camping? The Lion’s Campground is exceptional, hidden away and scenic in its riverside location. It is popular, so booking early is necessary;
    You are never far from a round of golf in Devon. The town features a course that is well cared for and has a decent restaurant/bar;
  • The University of Alberta operates the Devonian Garden just north of Devon on Highway 60. Throughout the summer is a gorgeous, relaxing place to invest a few hours. Sometimes they have evening date nights or classical music events.  **Please Note: When visiting Devon, please adhere to the guidelines mandated in Alberta. Stay 6ft apart. Wear a mask. Stay home if you are sick.
